Liquid-Cooled Load Bank: Working Principle for Data Centre Cooling Validation

Designed for data centre liquid cooling validation, the liquid-cooled load bank applies pure resistive electrical load while simultaneously transferring heat into the liquid cooling circuit. One unit delivers both power testing and chiller performance validation.

Liquid Cooling Load Bank = Resistive Heating + Direct Liquid Cooling.
Simulates server power consumption for electrical testing, and precisely transfers heat into the liquid cooling loop for cooling system testing.

Power Loading (Simulating IT Load) Equipped with pure resistive load elements, the load bank connects to UPS, generators, and PDUs to simulate real server power load, testing power capacity, voltage drop, stability, and protection logic.
Heat Generation & Direct Conduction Heat generated during resistive loading is not released into the air. Instead, it is transferred into thermal load via a 316 stainless steel heat exchanger for removal by the liquid cooling circuit.
Liquid Cooling Cycle (Simulating Heat Source for CDU/Chiller) Coolant (glycol, deionized water, or fluorinated fluid) circulates from the CDU/chiller through the load bank, removing heat and returning to form a closed, stable, measurable thermal cycle.
Control & Protection The control system adjusts load power in real time and monitors temperature, flow, and pressure, enabling synchronized, accurate testing of data centre power and cooling systems.

Can this unit test power systems and cooling systems at the same time?

Standard models support up to 5MW per container. Larger capacities are achieved through synchronised parallel operation of multiple cabinets — up to 30MW+ under unified control.

Standard voltages are 400V / 690V. Medium-voltage versions at 10.5kV and 13.8kV are available as custom configurations. All configurations are engineered to order.

Liquid-cooled and containerised are separate product lines. Batterlution’s liquid-cooled load banks are available in rack-mounted and floor-standing form factors.

A 20ft container typically accommodates 1–3MW of capacity. A 40ft container typically accommodates 3–5MW+. Choose based on your project power requirement and available site footprint. Custom sizes are available.

Yes. RS485 / Modbus RTU and Modbus TCP/IP are standard. Optional app-based remote control and unified parallel control across multiple cabinets are available.
